BMW X1 Engine

It was the year 2009 when BMW started producing the BMW X1 Engine. The first model of the X1 generation family is the E84 BMW X1, and later on, the F48 BMW X1 became its successor. The production of the BMW X1 continued from 2009-2015. And the production of F48 began in 2015. It is the first time in BMW production history in which BMW is planning to launch a car that is for a very wider range of customers. And that is why the BMW X1 came with various variants, both in petrol and diesel type engines. And like that there are the top 11 best engines of the BMW. 

The E84 X1 has introduced as a near-production prototype in the Paris Motor show in October 2008. 

Petrol Engine Variants in BMW X1 Engine

The idea of these cars came from the rising petrol prices in 2006. Then, the BMW decided to come up with a more efficient and useful engine. And because of this, they made a number of variants of the petrol engine and of the diesel engine as well. Let’s check out the list of engines used for different variants of BMW X1 cars.

N20B16 1.6L Turbo:

This BMW X1 engine produces a maximum power of 105 kW or 143 hp at 4,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 220 Nm or 162 lb.ft at 4,700 rpm. This engine fits under the hood of sDrive16i. The production of these engines continued from the year 2010 to the year 2015. This engine can reach the speed of 0-100kmk/h in just 9.7 seconds.

N46B20 2.0L I4:

The maximum power generated by this engine is 110 kW or 148 hp at 6,400 rpm and the maximum torque generated by this engine is 200 Nm or 148 lb.ft at 3,600 rpm. This engine was for the sDrive18i. The 0-100 km/h time taken by this car is 10.4 seconds. It was in production from the year 2010 to the year 2015.

N20B20 2.0 L I4 turbo:

This engine reaches the speed of 0-100 km/h in just 7.7s. This has the maximum power generating capacity of 135 kW or 181 hp at 5,000- 6,250 rpm and the maximum torque generating capacity is 270 Nm or 199 lb.ft at 1,250- 4,500 rpm. The sDrive28i car model has this engine under the hood.

N52B30 3.0 L I6:

This engine is under the hood of the two different car models, of different production years. It was first installed in the xDrive25i model, which was in production from the year 2010-2011. And later on, this engine made its way to the car model xDrive28i, which was in production from the year 2009 to the year 2010. The engine used in xDrive25i has the maximum power generating capacity of 160 kW or 215 hp at 6,100 rpm and the torque of 280 Nm or 207 lb.ft at 2,500-3,500 rpm. The time for 0-100 km/h speed is 7.9 seconds.

The same engine is also used in the BMW 128i, know more about it. And the engine used in xDrive 28i of the production from 2009-2010. The maximum power of this engine is 190 kW or 255 hp at 6,600 rpm and has a maximum torque of 310 Nm or 229 lb.ft at 2,600- 3,000 rpm. The 0-100 km/h speed timing of this engine is 6.8s.

N55B30 3.0 L I6 turbo:

This engine has the maximum power and maximum torque generating capacity. The maximum power of this engine is 224 kW or 300 hp at 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 407 Nm or 300 lb.ft at 1,300- 5,000 rpm. The production of this engine runs from the year 2013 to the year 2015. This BMW X1 engine takes the least time compared to all petrol engines in attaining the speed of 0-100 km/h. 

Diesel Engine Variants

The main motive of these engines is to increase the affordability of the cars, that is why BMW Automobiles also introduced the diesel engines all around the globe. 

N47D20 2.0 L I4 turbo:

This engine has its way under many car model hoods. The lowest maximum power configuration of this engine is 85 kW or 114 hp at 4,000 rpm and the least maximum torque is 260 Nm or 192 lb.ft at 1,750- 3,000 rpm. This engine is for sDrive16d and it takes 11.3 seconds to reach from 0-100 km/h speed. The next car model was sDrive18d which was in production from the year 2009-2015. A bit tuned engine is used for this car which has the maximum power of 105 kW or 141 hp at 4,000 rpm. And the maximum torque of this engine is 320 Nm or 236 lb.ft at 1,750-2000 rpm. And this model takes 9.9s to hit the mark of a hundred on the speedometer.

There was this car model sDrive20d which uses the two different tuned versions of this engine. Also, the difference between both cars of the same model is that they were from a different production year. The sDrive20d from the production year of 2009-2012 has an engine that has the maximum power of 130 kW or 174 hp at 4,000 rpm. And the maximum torque of this engine was 350 Nm or 258 lb.ft at 1,750-3,000 rpm. And this engine takes only 8.0 seconds to complete the speed of 0-100 km/h. 

sDrive20d Efficient Dynamics

The same model of car from the production year between 2013-2015. This engine has a maximum power of 135 kW or 181 hp at 4,000 rpm. The maximum torque of this engine is 380 Nm or 280 lb.ft at 1,750-2,750 rpm. This engine takes about 7.4 seconds to reach from 0-100 km/h. Also, the last car model in which the same engine was used is sDrive20d Efficient Dynamics. This car was produced from 2011-2015. The engine in this car has a maximum power of 120 kW or 161 hp at 4,000 rpm. And has the maximum torque of 380 Nm or 280 lb.ft at 1,750- 2,750 rpm. The 0-100 km/h timing of this engine is 8.3 seconds.

Since many of these engines are discontinued for production you won’t find any new engines. But don’t worry we bring you the list of used engines so that you don’t miss the enjoyment of riding all these beast engine-lashed cars.
